"Cheering U.S. veterans of the China-Burma-India campaigns arrive in New York September 27, 1945, aboard the Army transport General A. W. Greely. The men and women were members of the Flying Tigers, Merrill's Marauders, and other heroic outfits. International News Photos."
"Vehicles bound for Chengdu and the 20th bomber command are loaded on barges. As a steamboat (behind man directing) waits to ferry the barge across. All necessary gasoline was carried along for the journey. Several 55 gallon drums are visible in the vehicle. Poles were used to move the barges out of shallow water." USAT Honda Knot sailing under the Golden Gate Bridge into San Francisco Bay, 10 October 1947. Honda Knot, with 3,012 World War II deceased service members for reburial in US cemeteries, including many from the CBI. Much appreciation to NavSource.org for image and information.
