Note the female professional staff in the image. On the right, a woman, probably a westerner, sits next to the GI with the map board, and one the left, another woman, likely of Chinese descent, sits in front of Chennault. These women, inevitably highly skilled and trained, or with unique skills, often worked on administrative tasks, medical support, or in interpretation.

Women who worked with leadership as these women do, are inevitably highly skilled and trained, or with unique skills, and often worked on administrative tasks, medical support, or in interpretation. In this image, these two ladies highly resemble Alice Chong and Eloise Witwer, who were on Chennault's staff in Kunming during this period.
